There is no public release yet. Starting with the first release, this page will record update notes, new features, improvements and fixes for each version.

The app is in pre-release development, and the public known-issues list has not been finalized. This does not mean the app is free of issues.

At release, confirmed issues will include symptoms, affected versions and environments, available guidance and fix status.

This is the initial alpha for Apple Silicon Macs and Windows x64. See the download page for availability.

• Edit Markdown, add comments, save changes, review history, and inspect external changes.
• Check for updates in the app, download them, then explicitly restart to apply them.
• Updates use differential downloads when available, falling back to a full download when needed.

Workspace settings and file selection are now organized by purpose, and Markdown editing modes can be switched from a select menu. This release improves Explorer row actions, keyboard focus, and comment creation in narrow panes. It also removes unused bundled Git components and improves repository checks and application shutdown handling.

We revised the internal document-saving and history backend and removed the bundled Git distribution to reduce download sizes. A notification pane in the sidebar now provides access to workspace states that need attention.

• Updated the Windows installer build tools and dependencies used by the app and document renderer.

• Fixed an issue on Mac where opening folders containing certain Japanese filenames could report an invalid path.

• Improved support for documents with mixed line endings, existing text encodings, and saving large untracked documents.

• Fixed currency dollar signs being interpreted as math and adjusted spacing in document views and HTML/PDF output.

• Run Windows installation and updates with normal user privileges. Administrator and SYSTEM launches are rejected before installation starts.

This release adds untitled documents so you can start writing before choosing a file location, and improves image viewing, search results, and comments.

• Start an untitled document, then choose a location and continue editing it as a Markdown file.
• Open images from document content, zoom in, and return to the document.
• Read cross-file search results under their headings and choose search conditions using descriptive labels.
• Create comments within the Comments tool, with unpositioned comments listed first.
• Use the revised editing-mode menu and adjusted document widths on wide panes.
• Improved Shift+Enter line breaks in Live editing, list images and carets, and comment-input focus indicators.
• Improved opening folders and Markdown files from the OS and initial focus in standalone documents.

This release brings application information and update controls into the About window, and improves Markdown paste, line endings, problem reports, and folder access on Windows.

• View and copy version and build information, check for updates, download an update, and restart from the About window. Update notices in the workbench lead to this window.
• Open a dedicated problem report window even when the document window fails to start. Closing after submission and preserving or retrying report drafts are more reliable.
• Structure Markdown pasted as plain text in Live editing while preserving reference-link and footnote definitions.
• Edit documents with CR line endings. Fixes also cover applying changes to CR and CRLF documents and preserving numbered-list starts when lifting the first item.
• Distinguish heading levels through font sizes and spacing.
• Avoid Explorer warnings during external Git operations and improve diagnostic information when reading document changes fails.
• Fix opening repositories whose Windows paths contain Japanese or other non-ASCII characters.

Updating

Open About from the application menu to check for updates. After downloading, choose the restart-and-update action. Fumidama checks preservation of open documents before applying the update. Quitting normally does not apply it.

This release simplifies search, notices, and recovery, and improves focus when opening documents and Explorer reliability.

• Keep workspace search options and actions together in the query area.
• Use consistent notice dismissal and improve the notice for folders already open in another window.
• Show the recovery entry when a decision is needed. Preserve same-content drafts unless Git history also holds the content.
• Prevent a completed document load from taking focus away from a later user action.
• Recover Explorer file watching automatically and adjust row spacing, creation actions, and sidebar presentation.
• Group the initial screen actions into Open and New, and align workspace settings categories with application settings.
• Add guidance for using Fumidama as the default Markdown application. File associations change only through user action.

Development build name

Packaged development candidates now use the name Fumidama Development, with a separate application identity and profile from production. The former Fumidama Validation application is not replaced automatically. Preserve its working state before using the new development build.

This release improves document saving across Git configurations and preserves work when files change externally.

• Open, edit, and save documents without recording Git history in folders within a parent repository, supported worktrees and submodules, and detached HEAD repositories. Unavailable Git recording and history operations explain the reason.
• Creating a document in Explorer now creates only the file, without initializing Git or recording a commit.
• Saving rechecks external changes and deletion conflicts, preserving content that needs a decision.
• Rapid document switching handles read cancellation and selection more reliably. External change marks and viewer refreshes are more stable.
• PDF pages retain their spacing at reduced zoom and after window resizing.
